Saudi Arabia is anticipated to face an unusually hot summer in 2026, with forecasts indicating higher-than-normal temperatures throughout the Kingdom. According to the National Center for Meteorology, these elevated temperatures will affect all regions, while rainfall levels are predicted to be either near or below normal in many areas.
In June, rainfall is expected to align with seasonal averages across the nation. However, July could bring drier conditions, with below-average precipitation forecasted for Jazan, Baha, Asir, Makkah, Najran, and the Eastern Province. Other regions, meanwhile, are likely to experience typical rainfall levels during this period.
The temperature rise in June is projected to be significant, with increases of up to 1.5°C above normal in areas such as Jazan, Baha, parts of Makkah and Asir, as well as in Madinah, Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, and Tabuk. This trend is expected to continue into July and August, with temperatures potentially climbing by 1.6°C above average in Jazan, Baha, and sections of Asir and Makkah, marking them as some of the most sweltering regions in the country this summer.
Meteorological authorities have advised the public and relevant sectors to stay updated with official weather forecasts and alerts. This guidance aims to assist in preparation and planning to mitigate the impact of the anticipated extreme heat conditions.
