Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov invoked the success of “Operation Sindoor” as a key “testament to the effectiveness” of Russian-origin military hardware in India’s arsenal, as he announced a major new defense push.
This reference to a specific operation was used to underscore Alipov’s point that the 60-year partnership is “rooted in battlefield experience” that Russia “willingly shares.”
This “unique” cooperation, which accounts for 70% of India’s military equipment, is now set to deepen. Alipov announced offers for local production of the Su-57 fighter, drones, and advanced radar systems.
This move reinforces Russia’s reliability as a partner at a moment of friction with the US. After Donald Trump claimed India would halt “beneficial” Russian oil imports, Russia is reminding India of its proven, combat-tested security guarantees.
