by admin477351

Pakistan has confirmed the deployment of its military personnel to Saudi Arabia under a joint defence agreement aimed at bolstering the kingdom’s territorial defence capabilities. Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan stated that the forces and resources stationed in Riyadh are intended solely for defensive purposes and are not involved in cross-border operations against Yemen’s Houthi forces.

This deployment is part of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, which Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye signed on August 7, 2026. The pact establishes a framework for enhanced regional security cooperation, committing the three nations to consider an armed attack against one as an attack against all. The agreement is aimed at fostering closer ties and improving collective defence strategies among the signatories.

Pakistan’s military further confirmed that its personnel are engaged in various operational capacities within Saudi Arabia. This marks a significant step in strengthening the military collaboration between the countries involved, particularly in light of the ongoing regional security challenges.

The deployment reflects the strategic importance of the relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, as well as their shared interests in ensuring regional stability. While the specifics of the operational roles have not been disclosed, the emphasis remains on defensive measures intended to protect Saudi territory.

The agreement and subsequent military deployment highlight the commitment of the three countries to cooperate in maintaining peace and security in the region. As concerns over security threats persist, this trilateral pact underscores the importance of collaborative defence efforts in addressing potential challenges.
