by admin477351

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at boosting cooperation in electricity interconnection and rail transport to enhance regional connectivity and economic collaboration. The agreement was formalized by Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and UAE Investment Minister Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi.

The MoU outlines plans to strengthen infrastructure integration by focusing on electricity grid interconnection, electricity exchange, and rail connectivity between the two nations. This initiative is designed to improve energy efficiency, facilitate cross-border trade, and generate mutual economic benefits. A significant aspect of the agreement is the proposal to develop a coordinated electricity interconnection network among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, which is expected to bolster energy-system efficiency and regional electricity cooperation.

In addition to energy collaboration, the agreement sets forth general principles for enhancing rail connectivity. This includes the transportation and transit of goods and freight between Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which is anticipated to improve logistics networks, increase supply-chain efficiency, and ease cross-border cargo movement.

Through these strengthened transport and energy links, both countries aim to support economic development, expand regional trade, and deepen their cooperation across the Gulf region. The initiative underscores a strategic effort to create a more interconnected and economically integrated Gulf region.
